Another milestone has been realized in the quest by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, to address welfare needs and enhance the overall wellbeing of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel. This was achieved yesterday, 5 July 2018, when a block of 30 x one-bedroom residential accommodation for airmen/airwomen was commissioned at 303 Medium Airlift Group (MAG), NAF Base Ilorin, Kwara State. The newly completed and fully furnished residential block is part of a deliberate effort aimed at ensuring that personnel of 303 MAG, some of whom hitherto resided in rented accommodation in different locations within Ilorin, are relocated to the Base for enhanced operational efficiency and optimized service delivery.
While speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the CAS, who was represented by the Chief of Administration (COA) at Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Yahaya, stated that the facility was provided as part of ongoing efforts to focus on the welfare of personnel as a way of enhancing professionalism. He said that this mandate had spurred the NAF leadership, since 2015, to embark on massive infrastructural development in NAF Bases across the country in order to ensure better living conditions for NAF personnel and their families with a view to ensuring they remained committed to the performance of their constitutional roles. He therefore congratulated the beneficiaries of the new accommodation and urged them to ensure the facility was properly maintained.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander 303 MAG, Group Captain Patrick Obeya, expressed profound appreciation to the NAF leadership for the relentless efforts at improving infrastructure and executing various welfare boosting projects in the Base. He said the unit and its personnel were well motivated and thus better positioned to more effectively carry out assigned tasks.
